Our Mission:

To stimulate and foster a public interest in and appreciation for all phases and facets of lace and lace making, including but not limited to its history, collection, and expertise regarding this time honored, decorative art and craft; and to promote and develop the skillful making of lace by way of demonstration, instruction, teaching or otherwise.

How we go about it:

Our organization, formally organized in 1976, is made up of members whose interest in lace is not only in the making of lace but also in the collecting and preserving of lace. The Group sponsors numerous workshops in all types of lace (i.e., bobbin lace, tatted, knitted, crocheted, and needle lace). Members also participate in lacemaking demonstrations at Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio, and many other public functions. 

Meetings are held six times a year, generally in the metropolitan Detroit area, although we have met in Frankenmuth, Jackson, Lansing, and Midland, as well as in northern Ohio. A newsletter is published bi-monthly, usually in non-meeting months. 

Anyone interested in lace and/or lacemaking or who just enjoys lace is welcome to join the group. Dues are to be submitted by May 15th and are non-refundable as all back issues of the newsletter are mailed to you for the membership year which runs July 1st through June 30th of the following year. Any moneys received after March 1st are automatically applied to the next fiscal/membership year beginning in July.
